PRP is blood plasma that has been enriched with platelets. As a concentrated source of autologous platelets, meaning it comes from the patient’s own body, PRP contains several different growth factors and others cytokines that promote tissue repair, capillary formation and collagen production. PRP can be used in isolation or as an adjunct to other procedures. This is an effective way to enhance hair growth especially for more stubborn areas of hair loss i.e. receding hair line and crown.
Method:
The process involves the collection of whole blood which is centrifuged to separate the PRP from RBC’s. The PRP is then used either by multiple micro injections given on the scalp or by application post dermaroller.
Benefits:
Hair loss disorders – PRP has shown to stimulate dormant hair follicles and hence promote new hair growth.
Facial rejuvenation- PRP can treat wrinkles, photo damage and skin discoloration in conjunction with other treatment modalities.
Post-traumatic scars- PRP combined with fractional laser resurfacing improve cosmetic appearance of scars.
Scars and stretch marks- Micro needling technique is used which allows greater penetration of the PRP to minimize the appearance of scars and stretch marks.
